Macadamia Nut Oil for Soap Making
Macadamia Nut Oil is obtained from the nut meat of the macadamia nut, native to Australia.
Macadamia nut oil feels fatty, thick and soft on the skin, and has a long ‘surface time’, this means the oil takes extra time to penetrate the skin, providing good lubrication, leaving skin soft and smooth. Macadamia nut oil contains over 20% palmitoleic acid. Palmitoleic acid occurs naturally in our skin as part of sebum, where its job is to maintain moisture levels. The level of palmitoleic acid is reduced with age, which results in drier skin. Macadamia nut oil is therefore a good ingredient to have in products for mature and dry skin and skin which has difficulty retaining its moisture.
